Clearly, Manchester City fans were “pissed off” that they wouldn’t get a chance to repeat at English Football League cup champions. The Sky Blues were bounced from the tournament at the hands of their bitter rivals, Manchester United, on Oct. 26, failing to score in a 1-0 loss at Man U’s Old Trafford stadium.
At the end of the game, Man City fans decided to leave their mark on their rivals stadiums by smashing up the sinks and toilets in the public bathroom, per The Sun. Clearly, there was some significant damage done to the facilities, and it remains to be seen if Man City, Man U or if the EFL will punish anyone involved.
Man City’s downfall came at the 54 minute. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 35, created an opportunity for Man United, before passing the ball right into Juan Mata’s path. The 28-year-old Spaniard only had to kick the ball in down low into the net to secure his side’s advancement to the quarterfinals. They’ll take on West Ham, who beat Chelsea, 2-1.
While losing to Manchester United would give any City fan a reason to see red, this loss is their sixth game in a row without a victory. Before this match, they tied with Southampton, 1-1, and before that, Man City was completely annihilated in the Champions League on Oct. 19. They fell to Barcelona, 4-0, with Lionel Messi, 29, almost beating the Sky Blues single handedly.
Manager Pep Guardiola, 45, isn’t panicking yet, according to ESPN, as he said he would change “nada” about this match. The six-game winless streak doesn’t have him worried. “Every team has runs of good and bad results. We still need to improve, and we will.”
He and the rest of the Man City will have a chance to improve on Oct. 29, as they’ll take on West Brom in the Premier League. The Sky Blues are still on top of the Premier League table, but both Arsenal and Liverpool are breathing down their necks. Plus, Chelsea and Tottenham are not that far behind. If Man City goes another game without a win, no toilet or sink will be safe!
What do you think about the Man City fans going all hooligan on the public bathroom, HollywoodLifers? Do you think the EFL should punish Man City for it?
