Stephen Colbert, 52, wasn’t afraid to speak his mind during his appearance on Sirius XM’s The Bill Carter Interview, opening up about one of his biggest regrets. Stephen confessed that he wishes that he would’ve asked Donald Trump, 70, more difficult questions when he stopped by the Late Show, because he knows the Republican Presidential nominee wouldn’t dare return. Stephen explained why he felt that way, saying, “Oh, he’s a chicken. To put it in his own terms – let me translate it into his own language [chicken clucking noise]. He’s got a great sense of humor about himself. I’m sure he won’t mind.” LOL!
Donald last stopped by The Late Show in Sept. 2015, where they discussed Donald’s immigration policy in addition to playing a fun game of “Trump or Colbert.” Stephen also took a moment to apologize to the Republican presidential nominee for many of the mean statements he’s said about him over the years, leaving the floor open for Donald to do the same for those he offended. But, of course, Donald shut him down with a short and simple response, “uh…no.” Since their interview, the real estate mogul called into the show in Feb. of this year, but that’s been it!
Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon also recently got MAJOR heat for not asking the right questions to Donald during his Sept. 15 interview on the Tonight Show. Stephen gave his two cents on the matter, saying, “Every host’s responsibility is to be honest with themselves and with their audience about the kind of show that they do. So I fault no host who acts consistently and honestly. And I know what you’re talking about, but I didn’t actually see it. But I don’t entirely understand the furor about it.” Looks like Stephen’s got his back!
