The English mother-of-three posted a selfie on July 16 showing her breastfeeding her youngest child, son Booker Jombe Parker, at an outdoor music festival — the Latitude Festival — in Suffolk, England. “Perfect happiness,” Thandie Newton, 43, wrote alongside the pic. “This is what my body is made for.”
The award-winning Crash actress also used this opportunity to make a statement about her choice to not only breastfeed in public, but also breastfeed her child beyond infancy. “And the rest is my choice,” she finished, tacking on the hashtag, “#Freedom.”
And fans have totally backed her up! “Beautifully said,” one commenter wrote. Another gushed, “This is so cute as well as empowering!” In the picture, the actress reclines against a fence with the Latitude Festival bustling behind her while the youngster dozes peacefully as he feeds. Talk about a precious mother/son moment!
In addition to posting a nursing pic with little Booker, Thandie also shared a sweet photo of their eco-friendly ride to the music festival. “Off to @latitudefest with my Booker,” she wrote next to a photo of herself on a bike, with her toddler strapped into a seat attached to the back.
But Booker isn’t the only little one Thandie and her director husband, Ol Parker, have. The two are also the proud parents of Nico, 11, and Ripley, 15. And being a big supporter of more natural forms of parenting, Thandie actaully gave birth to all three of her children at home, according to People.
“I’d never been in hospital as a child or as an adult really, and I just associated hospital with being ill,” the actress said after Booker’s birth back in 2014. “And I felt beautiful and healthy and wonderful when I was pregnant, and being at home was the place I felt most relaxed and comfortable.” How beautiful!
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — do you admire Thandie’s approach to breastfeeding? Or is it too much?
