The Mega Millions jackpot has been closely watched by eager ticket-holders from all over, and we finally have a winner! The jackpot got bumped up to half-a-billion dollars since no one claimed the original $449 million prize on July 5, and the lucky winner of the $540 million is…?
If you were in Indiana and purchased a Mega Millions ticket, there is a very good chance you could to be a winner of the $540 million prize ($381 million cash)! The coveted ticket has been sold to one lucky person in the Indy area, and here are the winning numbers: 8,19, 20, 55 and 73. The mega ball was 5.
“Congrats to the one #MegaMillions jackpot winner in Indiana,” California Lottery tweeted early Saturday morning, following the July 8 draw, who has yet to crown a winner.

Although no one has come forward to claim the third largest Mega Millions jackpot in history, we are patiently awaiting that special someone. The drawing is the seventh biggest prize in U.S. lottery history, beating the Powerball prize of $448.4 million in August 2013.
“In addition to the jackpot win Tuesday night, there were 10 Match 5 winning tickets sold around the country. Seven are worth $1 million each – sold in Connecticut, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey and Oklahoma. Three included the optional Megaplier, so their tickets are worth $2 million each – sold in Colorado, Florida and Kansas,” the official Mega Millions website confirms.
“An estimated $1 billion in tickets have been sold since the last jackpot-winning ticket was drawn in early March, making that the longest Mega Millions run without a winner,” USA Today reports. Tickets are sold in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“Coincidentally, the only two Mega Millions jackpots won this year were drawn on the eighth day of a month – January 8 and March 8,” the official Mega Millions website revealed. That would make the July 8th drawing a three-time sweep, that is, of course, if the winner comes forward. Only time will tell, but we’re sure if we had the winning ticket we’d be in major shock!
