The four finalists on Season 10 of The Voice are all beyond talented, but after an incredible night with 12 performances, there was simply one that stood out above the rest. Alisan Porter’s rendition of “Somewhere” from West Side Story was the exact right song choice, and her delivery of it proves why she deserves to be the Season 10 winner.
It’s no secret that Alisan has been one of my favorites all season long, but Laith Al-Saadi, Adam Wakefield and Hannah Huston are all also incredible talents, so I knew it wouldn’t be easy for her in the Finals. I’ll admit, I was a little worried when she chose “Somewhere” as her final song of the night, considering her original song and duet with Christina Aguilera were both slow tunes, as well, but she totally proved me wrong.
The way Alisan stayed composed and low-key throughout the whole song, leading up to those big notes at the end, showed she is truly a professional and really just gets it. Everyone was great last night, but to me, there’s just no question that this performance stood out above the rest.
Alisan’s coach, Christina, was even in tears when the former child star finished singing. “If anyone deserves to be the winner of The Voice, it’s you, Alisan,” she gushed. “Thank you so much for trusting me. You’re an inspiration for literally anybody and everybody who has a dream and wants a second chance and you are the winner of The Voice.”
Of course, we’ll have to wait to see how America votes to determine who the actual winner is, but with her amazing consistency and flawless performances week after week, concluding with this powerful song, I just don’t see it panning out any other way. Go Alisan!
