Prince’s Secret Health Crisis: Friends Begged Him To Rest In Week Before His Death

Prince’s health may not have been as great as he wanted fans to believe. Even though the singer was performing and entertaining crowds in the week before his death, HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that those close to him were incredibly concerned about his condition.

Did Prince push himself too far in the weeks leading up to his tragic and devastating death on April 21? Although he claimed to be feeling perfectly fine just five days before his passing, friends had been begging him to take it easy, but sadly, he did not listen.

“He hasn’t been feeling well all week,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He’s tenacious and wanted to go out, while his people wanted him to stay home and rest.”

Even more concerning is the fact that Prince visited his local pharmacy just hours before he died…and it was the fourth time he’d been there that week, according to TMZ. The “Purple Rain” singer was photographed leaving Walgreens around 7 p.m. on April 20, and employees at the store say they were concerned because of how “frail and nervous” he was looking.

As we previously reported, the 57-year-old was battling a severe case of the flu in the weeks leading up to his death, but refused to cancel his April 14 concert in Atlanta, despite being under the weather. On the way home, though, his plane made an emergency landing in Illinois because he was feeling so poorly, and he was rushed to the hospital.

Prince was discharged just a few hours later, and invited a few hundred fans over to his home the very next day for a dance party. He didn’t perform, but he assured the crowd he was fine and asked them to “wait a few days before you waste any prayers.”

Things took a tragic turn, though, because just five days later, he was found dead in his Minnesota home, with the cause of death still being investigated. Honor Prince’s memory by reliving his best live performances here and listening to his greatest songs of all time here.
