O.J. Simpson Shocker: Buried Knife Found At His Estate & LAPD Cop Kept It For Years

Wait, this is just nuts! An LAPD cop was allegedly given a knife that was buried in O.J. Simpson’s lawn in the 90s and instead of turning it over to investigators he kept it and was going to frame it in his house. Luckily, someone found out and he turned it over!

Talk about a shocking and infuriating twist. The timing on this is a bit unclear but sometime in the 90s a construction working allegedly found a “folding buck knife” buried on O.J. Simpson‘s property where his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found murdered. The cop was off duty and doing security for a movie across the street but according to TMZ, he kept the knife for years instead of turning it over as evidence.

This should be categorized as obstruction of justice. An unidentified retired LAPD cop called up his friend who works in LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division and told him about the knife and said he was framing. He wanted to get the Departmental Record number so that he could engrave it on the case but his friend freaked out and demanded he turn the knife over. Once he did, a secret investigation was launched. The Serology Unit is testing it for fingerprints, blood, hair and more. But since it’s been so many years, it will definitely be difficult. Wow, this is just nuts! But the bummer in this is that even if it appears to be the murder weapon, O.J. can’t be tried again … that’s called double jeopardy.

Meanwhile, fans are following the case closely on the FX series, The People Vs. O.J., so there is definitely a renewed interest and a lot of people are learning the details about this case for the first time. Since the murder happened in 1994, many of the viewers were too young to know what was going on. O.J. is currently serving time in prison for an incident in 2007 that took place in a Las Vegas hotel room. O.J. was charged with felony criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery, and using a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to 33 years in prison but is eligible for parole in 2017.
