Mary Kay Letourneau, 53, and Vili Fualaau, 31, who started a sexual relationship when he was 12 and she was his sixth-grade teacher, will discuss their controversial relationship with Barbara Walters in a 20/20 tell-all interview set to air on April 10, the eve of their 10th wedding anniversary. Yes, that’s right. Mary Kay Letourneau and her student-turned-lover are happily married with two teenage daughters.
Mary Kay and Vili will allegedly talk about her rape trial and their married life, according to a press release by ABC News.
In case you’re unaware, Mary Kay started a relationship with Vili when he was a 12-year-old sixth-grade student. She then became pregnant with his child when he was just 13 years old. After serving seven years in prison, because of their illegal relationship, they married and now have two children together.
Their two daughters, Audrey and Georgia, will actually join them for the interview, ABC News said.
The couple will talk about several different topics, aside from her rape trial and their married life, during the interview. Mary Kay will allegedly reveal her intentions to have her status as a registered sex offender lifted — she even discusses her surprising plans to teach again.
Meanwhile, Vili will talk about his struggle with alcoholism and depression, as well as how he believes he was failed by the system as a minor.
Together, Mary Kay and Vili will discuss how they make their marriage work despite their age difference.
It sounds like it’ll be a very interesting interview. It airs at 10 p.m. ET on ABC April 10.
