Kelly Clarkson, 32, is amazing. After Katie Hopkins, 40, nastily fat-shamed Kelly by tweeting that the American Idol winner ate “all of her backing singers,” Kelly is breaking her silence. The singer doesn’t care what the British TV personality thinks about her weight and is totally comfortable with her body nearly nine months after giving birth to her first child.
“That’s because she doesn’t know me,” Kelly said to Heat magazine after learning about Katie’s hateful words. “I’m awesome! It doesn’t bother me. It’s a free world. Say what you will. I’ve just never cared what people think. It’s more if I’m happy and I’m confident and feeling good, that’s always been my thing. And more so now, since having a family—I don’t seek out any other acceptance.”
On Feb. 20, Katie tweeted, “Jesus, what happened to Kelly Clarkson? Did she eat all of her backing singers? Happily I have wide-screen. #grahamnorton.” Katie didn’t stop there. She dissed Kelly again on March 3. She wrote, “Look chubsters, Kelly Clarkson had a baby a year ago. That is no longer baby weight. That is carrot cake weight. Get over yourselves.”
Ouch. Katie’s words were beyond harsh. We’re so proud Kelly’s keeping it classy and isn’t allowing Katie’s comments to get to her. We’re all women here. There’s no reason to be fat-shaming anyone.
Kelly’s having the time of her life promoting her new album, and her March 2 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon was a riot. She sang a medley of hits alongside the late night host for their “History of Duets” number.
This included songs from Sonny and Cher, Elton John, Paula Abdul and more! Her latest album, Piece by Piece, has recently been released. It’s fabulous.
HollywoodLifers, are you glad of Kelly’s response? Let us know!
