Thanksgiving Dessert

Celebrity chef Michael Symon, host of ABC's The Chew and chef and owner of Lola, has the perfect Thanksgiving dessert to impress your guests!

Let’s make a Rum and Chocolate Flan with Sea Salt.

First, place 6 ramekins in a roasting pan and preheat your oven to 325.

Heat 2 cups whole milk, a cinnamon stick and 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon until simmering.

In a sauce pot over medium high heat, mix 1 cup of sugar with 3 tablespoons of water. Bring to a boil and cook until a deep caramel color forms, swirling the pan occasionally. Immediately pour the caramel evenly amongst the ramekins.

Whisk together 4 eggs, 2 egg yolks, 1/4 cup of  sugar, cocoa powder and a pinch of salt until the sugar has dissolved.

Whisk the condensed milk into the warm milk mixture.

Temper the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, one ladle at a time while whisking constantly.

Strain the mixture back into the pot then whisk in the chocolate and Diplomatico rum off the heat.

Pour the chocolate custard evenly amongst the ramekins. Place the tray in the oven and pour hot water into the pan, allowing it to come halfway up the ramekins. Bake for about 50 min until just set.

Immediately before serving, sprinkle the surface with flakey sea salt. Enjoy!
