What Each Pride Symbol Stands For

LGBTQ

While the rainbow flag is still widely used to represent the LGBTQ community, different groups, genders, and identities have come up with their own flags recently. Here are 8 and their meaning.

Rainbow Pride Flag

Created by Natalie McCray, the different shades of red and pink are said to represent different shades of lipstick.

Lesbian Pride Flag

The blue represents boys, the pink girls, & the white those transitioning, have no gender or identify as gender neutral

Transgender Pride Flag

Used to represent black and brown people in the LGBTQ community.

Philadelphia's People of Color Inclusive Flag

Designed by Michael Page in 1998 to recognize those who are attracted to both men and women.

Bisexual Pride Flag

Created in 2010 to recognize those who are not drawn to people sexually.

Asexual Pride Flag

Created by JJ Poole in 2012 for those who don't identify with one gender.

Genderfluid Pride Flag

Combines the colors & stripes of Philly's pride flag and the colors of the transgender pride flag.
