Andrew Spencer, 27, has had a tough go on season 8 of Bachelor in Paradise so far. Although he had a strong start with Teddi Wright, and the two even went on the first date of the season together, it wasn’t long before things fell apart. Teddi ended things with Andrew fairly quickly.
After a brief romance with Brittany Galvin, Andrew felt some sparks with Jessenia Cruz when she arrived during split week. Although the pair’s relationship hasn’t gotten much screen time, he accepted her rose at the third and fourth rose ceremonies. However, Andrew was very upset when his friend, Rodney Mathews, got dumped on the Nov. 7 episode, and it may put a damper on his own experience.
Andrew fell for Katie on season 17 of The Bachelorette, which aired in the summer of 2021. Andrew and Katie had a consistent relationship throughout the beginning of the show and he received a one-on-one date during week five, where Katie gave him another rose. However, Andrew was eliminated during week six, right before hometown dates. It was a devastating breakup for both Andrew and Katie, but she simply felt like she had stronger connections with the other men. One day after his elimination, Andrew showed up at Katie’s hotel with a letter so they could end things on a better note, which Katie was appreciative of.
Andrew played football while in college at Winona State University, where he was a first team All-American player. He graduated in 2017 and began to play professional football for the Dacia Vienna Vikings in Vienna, Austria. Andrew played with the team for the 2021 season, but is no longer listed on the roster for 2022. When Andrew as on the team, he lived in Austria part-time, and then worked part-time as a football coach in Chicago for the other half of the year.
Andrew’s cousin is Clay Harbor, who appeared on The Bachelorette season 14 and Bachelor In Paradise season 6. Clay, who is also a pro football player, revealed he gave his cousin some Bachelorette advice ahead of filming. “He’s hilarious. I just told him to be himself, make her laugh, and just go out there and have fun,” Clay told Us Weekly.
Andrew revealed in his ABC bio that he “hopes to have five kids one day.” Family is extremely important to him. Andrew was raised by a single mother after his dad was sent to prison, which is when he started prioritizing football in his life. He is also very close to his 98-year-old grandmother
Andrew admittedly has a big crush on Zendaya. In fact, he admitted that the reason he didn’t go on season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise is because he thought he had a “legitimate shot” with her.
