The NBA star’s last major decision was 15 years ago when he left Cleveland for Miami. Here’s what we know so far about his ‘second decision.’
LeBron James‘ last major decision was in 2010 when he left his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, for the Miami Heat. Now, the basketball star is teasing yet another one that will drop on October 7, 2025. While we wait for the big news to drop, here’s how you can watch James’ “second decision” announcement, what time it comes out and more.
James was drafted in 2003 as the first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James did not announcement his retirement. But sports analysts and fans speculated that this could be James’ last season in the NBA since he’s about to become the league’s first player to start a 23rd season.
Previously, James said he was “excited” to continue playing for another season, indicating that he will still be on the court in the near future. However, he acknowledged that the “end” of his professional sports career is “a lot sooner than later.”
“I’m excited about today, I’m excited about the opportunity to be able to play the game that I love for another season,” James told reporters in the fall of 2025, according to multiple outlets. “Whatever the journey lays out this year, I’m super-invested because I don’t know when the end is. It’s a lot sooner than later.”
Other fans theorized that the power forward would go back home to the Cleveland Cavaliers 15 years after leaving them.
Fans got their answers at 11:00 a.m. ET when Hennessy revealed James’ new partnership in a parody of his first “decision” from 15 years ago.
James tweeted that his “decision of all decisions” will be unveiled at 12:00 p.m. EST, but he actually unveiled it at around 11:00 a.m. ET through his Hennessy campaign.
James dropped that “second decision” announcement in the form of a Hennessy advertisement just after 11 a.m. ET.
As of 2025, James has a net worth of $1.3 billion, according to Forbes.
