Sofia Carson, 24, released the first single off her debut album, “Back To Beautiful,” in Jan. 2017, and she told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that she’s hard at work on new music that we’re going to hear very soon. In addition to working on her debut album and Descendants 2, she’s going to be hosting the Radio Disney Music Awards alongside Kelsea Ballerini, 23, Jordan Fisher, 23, Alex Aiono, 21, and Jenna Ortega, 14. Read our interview with the gorgeous and talented Sofia for all the scoop!

Are working on new music or possibly an album?
Yes, absolutely. I’m working on a new album, my first album. I’m also working on releasing new music very soon. “Back to Beautiful” is a song that’s really close to my heart. Growing up, I always wanted, if I was lucky enough, to be an example of girl power to teach girls and show them that they can do and be anything that they want. And what Evie teaches is that beauty is in our hearts and in our minds. Especially with what’s going on in the world I felt it was such an important message to say. That we have to be beautiful people first and foremost.

Can you tease what kind of songs we’re going to hear on your album?
There’s one song in particular that will be coming out very soon that I think is probably my favorite song to date. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s one of my favorites. It’s different from what I’ve released before. But feels like a proper step. It’s still Sofia, just something different. Overall with the album, I’ve been so careful with choosing the songs and writing the songs because I want it to be honest and just honestly me. The thing that’s so different about being a musician versus an actor is that when you’re an actor you play someone. You play a character, you step into someone’s shoes, and tell someone else’s story. But this time, you’re telling your own story, so for me the stakes are higher. It’s just so much more pressure but on myself in a good way. I want everything to be so perfect and true and honest. I just really want every song, whether it’s a rhythmic record or a ballad, to feel a 100 percent me.

You’re one of the hosts of the RDMAs this year, are you nervous?
I am so excited. The first RDMAs that I went to was my first red carpet. Zendaya was hosting 2 years ago, and she was just so cool and it looked like so much fun. I’ve always wanted to host an awards show, so I’m really excited for the opportunity. It’s going to be a really special show. It’s the 20th birthday of Radio Disney, so Britney Spears will be nominated for the Icon Award. She’s going to be there, which is crazy! So many huge performers. It’s going to be a really special night.

Who are you most looking forward to seeing?
Other than Britney, Alessia Cara I think is amazing. She has such an incredible voice. I love her and to see her perform would be amazing. Julia Michaels, who I got write “Back to Beautiful” with, is performing because she launched her song “Issues.” She’ll be singing, and I love her.

The Radio Disney Music Awards will air April 30 on Radio Disney and Disney Channel. Sofia will also be performing a tribute to Britney Spears, 35, with Kelsea and Hailee Steinfeld, 20!
