Martin Lawrence: Why He Refused To Be Photographed With Co-Stars At Tommy Ford’s Funeral

Uh oh! Martin Lawrence was noticeably absent in pictures with his fellow sitcom co-stars at Tommy Ford’s funeral, so was he trying to throw shade? HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned the real reason that he didn’t want to pose with his beloved former cast members.

Tommy’s death still comes as a shock to Martin and he’s still an emotional mess. Quite frankly, he didn’t want to be seen on the day Tommy was laid to rest and that’s okay. Martin didn’t want to take any attention away from Tommy and his family, and out of respect stayed in the background and grieved privately,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Tommy tragically passed away at the young age of 52 after suffering a ruptured abdominal aneurysm Oct. 12.

“Plus, his emotional state was a mess. He was crying hard and loud because Tommy was like a brother to him and he felt like he’s lost a member of his family. All that noise about him not being cool with Tisha and the rest of the cast is B.S. It was Tommy’s day and Martin respected that,” our insider adds.

His Martin co-stars posed together for a mini-reunion, with Tichina Arnold, Carl Payne, and Tisha Campbell, making history in an iconic pic. Tichina posted it to her Instagram with the caption “Today was not easy…but by the grace of God we all got through it. Words cannot express our gratitude for all of your prayers, positive thoughts and support for us throughout the years. Tommy will be missed but most certainly never forgotten.” She made sure to add that Martin WAS present and that there was no dramatic reason why he wasn’t shown. “And PLEASE don’t ask ‘Where’s Martin?’ He was there too…just not in this picture. Lol! God bless you all.”
