In the third episode of No Tomorrow, Xavier (Joshua Stasse) goes out of his way to throw Evie (Tori Anderson) the most amazing birthday(s) she’s ever had, but Evie is too concerned with keeping him away from her family and friends.
The episode starts with X taking Evie to a conference about asteroids where he speaks out about his theory and is taken down by security with a taser. A totally freaked out Evie rushes to Hank (Jonathan Langdon) at work, nervous that she’s dating a psycho, and asks him to dig up some research on him. Hank, in turn, wants to meet Xavier and the two hit it off and bond over cream sodas and apocalyptic theories. Aww!
The super sarcastic Kareema, played by Sarayu Rao, takes the lead this episode as Evie’s confidant, and brings Evie to her own surprise party! However, Evie is totally frazzled, as Xavier is there is meeting her parents for the first time, and she’s concerned he’ll reveal his crazy “end of the world” theory to her entire family.
Throughout the night, Evie follows him around, policing what he says. However, it seems that everyone really likes Xavier, and are even inspired by his “live like there’s no tomorrow” attitude. X takes the entire party to his house where he does the most romantic thing ever for Evie — he has cakes for every single birthday in a tent next to his home. Evie’s family and friends engage in a food (cake) fight, which ends in a toast by Xavier, where *cringe* he discusses his apocalyptic theory.
As Evie tries to explain to her parents that Xavier was “just joking,” Xavier overhears and is visibly upset. “You wouldn’t ask someone to hide their faith or their sexuality,” Xavier said to Evie after her parents leave. “You can’t cherry-pick what people believe in.”
Of course, the two make-up after Evie has one of her typical epiphanies and runs back to Xavier’s open, muscular arms. The two search for the scientist who has a restraining order against Xavier, to see if she’ll look into his theory and help Evie understand better. Although, the scientist isn’t as accepting and Evie sees her throwing out the research.
While Evie’s noticeably upset, Kareema brightens things up, for a change, and demonstrates how Xavier inspires others to pursue their passions and live for the moment. Kareem even made her own apocalyst!
The episode ends just like it started – a sexy, Xavier/Evie make out sesh! Woo!
