Finally, some good news to come from Angelina Jolie, 41, after all of her heartbreaking divorce proceedings from Brad Pitt, 52. According to Deadline, She’s in preliminary talks to star in a film based on the memoir Shoot Like A Girl: One Woman’s Dramatic Fight In Afghanistan and on the Home Front by Air Force Major Mary Jennings Hegar. She was a rescue helicopter pilot who served three tours in Afghanistan. In addition to saving our soldiers from dangerous areas, she was shot by the Taliban and still managed to rescue the men she’d been tasked with transporting in a near-death escape. Back home Mary also was a trailblazer in helping get women allowed to participate in direct combat after she sued the Defense Department and won! That is just the type of heroic badass that Angelina was born to play.
We’ve totally missed Angie’s tough lady roles that made her one of Hollywood’s few bankable female action stars. Who can forget her as Lara Croft, or her shoot ’em up parts in Salt and Wanted? And there’s always her most infamous role, playing married dueling assassins with her now estranged husband in Mr. and Mrs. Smith!
A heroic action flick would be just what Angie needs to get her mind off of her personal drama. But at least things are moving along as she’s getting temporary full custody of her six kids with Brad on Sept. 30, and he’s been given supervised visitation rights that could be amended depending on how things go. He also has to undergo random drug testing and therapy. So far she’s getting exactly what she wanted out of her divorce filing, so if things keep going her way, she’ll eventually have the time to step back into a meaty big screen action role!
HollywoodLifers, would you love to see Angie star in the movie about Mary’s heroic life?
