Nick Gordon, 20, did not show up to his scheduled court appearance on Sept. 16 at the Atlanta Fulton County Superior Court. The hearing was scheduled in regards to the wrongful death suit filed against him last August. by Bobbi Kristina Brown’s estate. Nick has opted to represent himself in this matter, and Judge T. Jackson Bedford was obviously not happy that he didn’t show up, especially since this is the second time it’s happened, and anything alleged by him is now “admitted through omission.”
Bobbi was found unresponsive in her bathtub in Jan. 2015, and officially pronounced dead six months later on July 26, 2015 when she was just 22 years old. Her estate is seeking $50 million in the lawsuit against Nick, and after he failed to show in court, a lawyer representing the Plaintiff promised that they will continue to seek the justice Bobbi deserves.
“The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer, that he is legally responsible for her death and the only thing left for us to prove is the value of her life,” the lawyer told NBC’s Atlanta affiliate. “And we intend to do that.”
The Estate claims that Bobbi died “due to a violent altercation with Defendant after which he placed her in a bathtub, unconscious, after he injected her with a toxic mixture,” according to papers obtained by WSB-TV. Bobbi’s father, Bobby Brown, signed the documents earlier this year after Nick’s appearance on Dr. Phil.
It is now up to a jury to decide the amount of damages that Nick will have to pay the estate. No criminal charges have been filed, as the estate is simply hoping to prove that he was responsible.
