Portions of Kesha‘s deposition taken in 2011, in which she flatly denies Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald) ever drugging her or raping her, have surfaced online. And they’re so shocking that we can only imagine they’ll hurt any efforts she may make in the future to appeal the Feb. 19 court ruling, which forces her to fulfill her contract with Sony.
In the video, which TMZ obtained from a Dr. Luke source, Kesha denies the allegations she’s now making against Sony’s star producer. When asked if she ever had “an intimate relationship” with Dr. Luke, Kesha said, “No. I don’t know what my mother told to David, but I know Dr. Luke never made any sexual advances at me.”
Then, when her mother appears in the video, she is asked, “Were you ever told at any time prior to when you met with David for the first time that Luke had had a sexual relationship of any kind with your daughter?” And Kesha’s mom replied, “No.” And when asked if she was ever told that Dr. Luke slipped Kesha a date rape drug, she said, “No.”
This deposition was taken in 2011, when both Kesha and Dr. Luke had been sued by a manager, and the singer was asked under oath about comments her mom allegedly made about Dr. Luke. It’s interesting because Kesha is currently claiming that Dr. Luke did drug and rape her, so she wants to be let out of her current contract with Sony. On Feb. 19, a judge denied her request, and Dr. Luke took to Twitter on Feb. 22 to deny ever raping Kesha, let alone having sex with her.
After the deposition was first leaked in 2014, Kesha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos released the following statement:
“Luke’s latest legal maneuver comes as no surprise; it’s a desperate Hail Mary and a pathetic attempt to once again blame his victim. He threatened to destroy Kesha’s life and the lives of her family if she didn’t cover up his sexual assaults in a 2011 deposition; Luke is now following through on his threats. Unfortunately protecting abusers out of fear happens all too often with battered women. This case is about Luke’s physical, emotional and psychological abuse of Kesha and her fight to get him out of her life. After being driven to the brink of death and into rehab, she’s no longer going to allow herself to wither away at the hands of her abuser as he tries to blame the victim.”
In Kesha’s complaint, which she filed on Oct. 14, 2014, it claims:
Dr. Luke repeatedly threatened that if she ever told anyone about these abusive incidents, he would destroy both Ms. Sebert and her entire family. Specifically, after he drugged and raped Ms. Sebert, Dr. Luke took her down to the beach alone to “have a talk” with her. He threatened that if she ever mentioned the rape to anyone, he would shut her career down, take away all her publishing and recording rights, and otherwise destroy not only her life but her entire family’s lives as well. He also threatened her and her family’s physical safety. Ms. Sebert wholly believed that Dr. Luke had the power and money to carry out his threats; she therefore never dared talk about, let alone report, what Dr. Luke had done to her.
