“A bunch of hookers and cocaine,” was what one Nevada man plans to spend his money on if he wins the Powerball lottery, and a poor local news reporter learned a very hard lesson that even the most simple questions can have the most unexpected answers when you’re on live TV. The hilarious moment happened while she was asking people filling out their lottery tickets what they’d spend their money on if they won the then $500 million lottery pot on Jan. 6. outside Las Vegas.
Fox-5 reporter Ophelia Young was cheerfully asking questions to people inside a Primm, NV lottery outlet about Powerball lottery, but she sure picked the wrong person to chat up when asking a man in a San Francisco Giants hoodie and black beanie what he’d spend his winnings on. “A bunch of hookers and cocaine,” was his brutally honest reply as he delivered the line to the mortified reporter who burst into a nervous giggle saying “Okay, that’s not good, we were hoping for a different answer…that’s probably not the answer that we’re looking,” for as she quickly moved along and far away from the man.
Apparently that was also not the answer the control booth back at the TV station wanted to hear as they immediately cut back to the anchor in the studio who sternly tried to move on simply saying, “Five hundred million dollars can make a huge difference in someone life, thank you Ophelia,” before her co-anchor made light of it saying, isn’t live TV grand?” At moments like this, it definitely is!
