This is so amazing! Cassandra Naud was urged by doctors and casting agents to remove or hide her birthmark for years, but the confident 22-year-old professional dancer has refused. Even in our nip & tuck society, she believes that her birthmark is an attribute, not a flaw, and we all could take a few notes from her confidence! Check out her beautiful pics right here.
“My birthmark is a huge part of me,” Cassandra told DailyMail, and with a quick glance at the large dark brown birthmark under her right eye, one can easily agree. However, Cassandra’s story is much more than skin deep!
At birth, doctors in Cassandra’s hometown of Alberta, Canada, told her parents that plastic surgery could be done to remove her mark, but they decided that it wasn’t worth the risk.
Today, the now professional dancer thanks her parents for their decision!
“I’m so glad my parents chose to leave my birthmark as it’s part of who I am. Having a birthmark distinguishes me — and I don’t feel that it has ever held me back.”
When it comes to her birthmark, Cassandra says, “It makes me unique and memorable, which is especially important for the career I’ve chosen,” but she wasn’t always so confident.
She says: “They’d taunt me saying: ‘You’ll get beat up in high school’ and ‘The hair on your cheek is gross’… Their cruel remarks were hard to deal with and I’d often fight back tears. I felt ugly.”
So at 13, she considered plastic surgery, but after learning the risks, she decided against it and hasn’t looked back!
Cassandra now lives in Los Angeles working as a professional dancer, and she feels that her birthmark actually helps her career! Even though one casting director suggested that she digitally remove the large mark from her face on her head shots, she hasn’t changed a thing and still continues to find work. Go girl!
It certainly hasn’t held her back from having a love life either, and she’s in a happy relationship with her boyfriend, Patrick Cooke. Now she urges others to ignore the bullies and appreciate their individuality just as she does.
This sure makes obsessing over a few freckles or acne blemishes seem pretty silly, doesn’t it?
Do you think that Cassandra should get her birthmark removed, HollywoodLifers? Guess what? It doesn’t really matter! She’s beautiful just as she is.
