“Why two Bachelorettes?” was the question on everyone’s minds on March 9 after Chris Harrison made the jaw-dropping reveal about Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe during The Bachelor: After the Final Rose special. Here’s why producers decided to make this unprecedented move.
They did it all for the ratings!
“The only reason the producers picked Brit was because of ratings. Chris Harrison and the producers made it seem like there was a popularity tie between the two, and that it was really close,” an insider explains to HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “But that’s so not true. No one really likes Britt, whereas everyone loves Kaitlyn. The producers are under pressure to bring in higher ratings for the next season. They are desperate and this was a desperate move.”
Wow! This was quite a controversial — and arguably sexist — move to make simply for the sake of ratings. If The Bachelorette needed a shakeup, we can think of plenty of other options for added drama! As our editor-in-chief Bonnie Fuller suggested, why not add some extra men to the mix and give both ladies a chance to fine true love!
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, former Bachelor and Bachelorette stars Ali Fedotowsky, 30, Desiree Siegfried, and Sean Lowe, 31, and his wife, Catherine Lowe, 28, weren’t pleased with the producers’ decision to pit two women against each other, and they all took to Twitter in protest. Here are their tweets:
The more I think about it, I can’t help but be upset about ABC choosing 2 #Bachelorettes. It’s going to be so hurtful to both the girls.

Not going to lie.. I’m a bit confused by 2 bachelorettes. Put girls against each other!? Don’t we already get enough of that. #TeamKaitlyn — Desiree Siegfried (@DesHartsock) March 10, 2015
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Will you watch The Bachelorette? Did the producers make the right call? Let us know your thoughts below!
