Maxxandra Ford, from Tampa, Florida got a big surprise when she found out she was expecting when she was already in her third trimester. Then, in early 2015, she gave birth to a healthy 14.1 pound bouncing baby boy — the natural way! Ouch.
Maxxandra set a record on Jan. 29 by giving birth to a healthy baby boy, Avery Denton, who came into the world weighing a massive 14 pounds and one ounce, according to The New York Daily News.
Wow, that’s a big boy!
Baby Avery is the largest baby born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa Bay, and one of the largest ever born in the state’s history.
Although Maxxandra was surprised at how big her little boy was, she was even more surprised to find out she was even pregnant. Wait, what?
Rewind back to a few weeks ago, Maxxandra decided to go to the doctors after she started to notice she was rapidly putting on weight. It was then that she got the wonderful news she was expecting and was already 35 weeks along!
That didn’t leave much time for preparation.
The mother of three assumed she would be having twins considering how large she was growing, and the fact that she was a twin herself, according to Daily Mail.
In addition to her newborn baby, Maxxandra has a 1-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter at home, but little Avery has definitely stolen the show!
Although the newborn is currently healthy, Maxxandra will have to monitor his diet if she doesn’t want to risk the child becoming obese later in life.
Pediatrics expert Dr. Vincent Lannelli told The New York Daily News that the average weight of a baby is 7 pounds 7.5 ounces. Avery is almost double that size!
All babies born over 8 pounds and 8 ounces are considered High Birth Weight, according to the report.
Congrats to Maxxandra and her family on their newborn! Hopefully, Avery’s diet is easy to maintain and he stays healthy for life!
