Zayn Malik, 21, wasn’t looking too healthy when he was pictured boarding a plane to America to meet the rest of his bandmates on Nov. 18. The One Direction heartthrob appears to have puffy red eyes in a series of recently released photos. Zayn was said to be sick with a “tummy bug” and couldn’t attend the band’s album launch in Orlando, Florida earlier this week, and these new pics have us worried.

Zayn had to defend himself after Today show host Matt Lauer asked Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson if their bandmate’s absence during the Nov. 17 interview was related to drugs.

“I’m really angry and upset by what was said on the Today show. I was really ill at the weekend. That’s why I couldn’t fly to America,” Zayn told Dan Wootton at The Sun.

Even worse, Zayn looked very thin on stage on Nov. 18, an eyewitness tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He was shaking on stage and he was the one that lacked the most energy.”
