Nicki suffered a major wardrobe malfunction during her ‘Bang Bang’ performance at the MTV VMAs on Aug. 24 — or did she? According to a shocking new report, the whole thing was a stunt staged by Nicki!
Nicki Minaj, 31, claimed that she didn’t have enough time to zip up her dress when she rushed directly from her “Anaconda” performance into her “Bang Bang” performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Aug. 24. But she was reportedly spotted awkwardly holding that very same dress together during a rehearsal before the show. Did Nicki just totally pull one over on us?!

Even with Jessie J and Ariana Grande lighting up the stage during the trio’s hot performance of “Bang Bang,” all eyes were on Nicki as she clung to her cleavage and crotch in an apparent attempt to keep them from spilling out of her little black dress.
Was it really just an elaborate ruse? Well, eyewitness sources tell TMZ that the rapper was sporting the same exact frock during her dress rehearsal on the morning of Aug. 24 — and it was totally unzipped.
“One eyewitness says it caught her eye because she initially thought Nicki had come out in a robe,” the site reports. “We’re told Nicki was wrapping her arms around the dress in a ‘weird’ sort of way … trying to manipulate it to see how much would be exposed.”

Plus, the VMAs had its own makeshift dressing room right off stage, according to TMZ, so Nicki easily could have changed in there, even if she only had moments to spare.
As far as wardrobe malfunctions go, this one was pretty weird and awkward. You’d think, if it was premeditated, that Nicki could have planned something a little more … titillating.

When Nicki was asked after the show what went wrong with her performance ensemble, she responded by saying, “We ran out of time getting the dressed zipped up!”
She later took to her Instagram, however, to gush about how thrilled she was to have avoided a nip slip, saying: “God is good. As long as a nipple didn’t come out to play, I’m fine.”
