Fans are still drying their tears after the intensely emotional goodbye between Damon and Elena on the May 15 finale of The Vampire Diaries, and some are even speculating that Ian Somerhalder decided to leave the show because of tension between himself and his co-star and real-life ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev. Now HollywoodLife.com can clear the air and give you all the EXCLUSIVE details about Damon’s departure from the show.
Rest easy, Vampire Diaries addicts! We’re happy to report that your favorite character WILL be resurrected in due time, and that there’s not a single drop of bad blood between Ian and Nina. In fact, they’re actually giving their real-life love another go, according to a new report.
“There is no issue with Ian and Nina at all,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “He will be back, he needed time to film other stuff and it’s all about keeping the storyline interesting.”
What a relief! And as intense as Elena and Damon’s farewell was, we’re sure their reunion will be even more epic!
In case you missed it, Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) both died on the Season 5 finale after they travelled to “the other side” to save their friends, including Stefan (Paul Wesley).
Damon and Bonnie faced a relatively pleasant death compared to others who have been killed off on the show in the past. After sacrificing themselves for their loved ones, the pair joined hands, closed their eyes and let go of their earthly lives — for now at least!
We’re definitely going to miss Damon while he’s gone but we are overjoyed to know that he’ll be back. We can hardly wait!
How about YOU, HollywoodLifers? Are you relieved to hear that Damon will return to The Vampire Diaries? Let us know!
