Selena Gomez Disses Lorde For ‘Tearing Down Another Artist’
Lorde may be an extremely talented up-and-coming singer, but after throwing shade on Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Selena, it didn’t sit well with many!
Selena Gomez isn’t just going to stand by and let Lorde diss her and her friends! However, she proved to be the bigger person in a new interview on Hot 99.5’s, when she stuck up for herself and still raved about the talented 16-year-old.
Selena Gomez Responds To Lorde’s Diss
While in Boston, Selena has been visiting local radio stations to promote her Stars Dance tour. Sitting down with host, Danni Starr on The Kane Show, she was almost immediately asked about how she felt about her haters.
Naturally, one of those was Lorde. So while Selena responded, she stayed extremely mature and even complimented her multiple times:
There’s two different kinds of criticism. There’s the people that hide behind a computer and want to say endless amount of things but never say it to your face, and then obviously there are the vocal ones. I appreciate everybody’s opinion, especially because I’ve covered her music lots of times. I think she is super talented and I think it’s awesome. But I think at the same time that feminism and that specific thing is very sensitive because in my opinion it’s not feminism if you’re tearing down another artist. So that’s the only thing that I feel but you know, she’s young, she’s got so much talent, she’s gonna take over, she gets it, so I don’t take it to heart.
How mature is she?! We’re loving it. Selena used to cover Lorde’s “Royals” during her shows, but no longer does. Instead, she now covers Katy Perry‘s “Roar.”
Lorde’s Diss To Selena
In the past few months, Lorde burned at a ton of hot artists.
“I love pop music on a sonic level,” she said in an interview. “But I’m a feminist and the theme of her song [Come & Get It] is, ‘When you’re ready come and get it from me.’ I’m sick of women being portrayed this way.”
Ouch! Additionally, she has dissed Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, called Taylor Swift “unattainable and flawless,” and called Justin Bieber a bad influence.
