Aida Turturro, who played Tony Soprano’s (James Gandolfini) sister Janice on The Sopranos, had a lot to say about her fellow co-star and great friend, following his tragic passing! At Super Saturday 16, which benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund in Water Mill, NY, on July 27, she told us about how the rest of the cast is holding up and how she’s keeping herself busy!
We were devestated about James Gandoldini’s death, but then again, who wasn’t?! And we loved seeing Aida and James on-screen together! We got a chance to speak to Aida about James and she had a ton to say:
Well you know, everybody has a different memory because they have a different relationship. Whether it’s from television or individually. I think that to me, personally, I have a lot of love for him – I have my own memories. The beautiful thing is, he had a very, very, huge incredible soul and it just went on forever. His love & his generosity is why he had a church full of women AND men crying. It was a great loss – not because of his acting – I mean he was a great actor of course – but really because he was a generous and beautiful entity & I’ve known him since 1992 & I still kind of can’t comprehend it.
Sadly, it may take a bit of time before the cast fully recuperates.
I think it’s a process. I think at first you’re hit with it and you can’t believe it & then you slowly process it. Sometimes for people it takes Awhile to process – you turn around & your like ‘oh my god is he not here anymore?’ Everybody’s processing it in their own way – nobody’s happy about it & it’s not easy for anyone.
Unfortunately, everyone must move on and life keeps going, even after such a tragedy like this. But, fortunately for Aida, she has a lot of new and exciting things coming up in her near future!
“My cousin’s got a new show for us, I just did a little thing for Rob The Mob, and I’m starting a wonderful decorating/organizing business – which I love doing.” How exciting is that!? Aida told us it’s called, “Home Coach. I love it – it makes me happy.” Well, good for her! We’re so glad she’s happy after all that has happened recently!
