There were more than a few critics when news broke that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their baby daughter North West (to be fair, there probably aren’t too many girls in the world named North West), but the couple reportedly has a very good reason for the unique name. And it has nothing to do with road maps or giving directions.
North West isn’t a direction, a source tells TMZ, it’s a metaphor by Kim and Kanye that means their daughter is the most amazing thing in the world. They see North as a metaphor for “up,” a source tells TMZ.
“What’s North of North? Nothing,” the source says. Basically, you can’t get any higher or better than Kimye’s baby daughter. Both Kim and Kanye think their daughter is the pinnacle of their relationship — their highest point, according to TMZ. They see her as “their North Star.”
HollywoodLife.com told you first exclusively on June 21 that Kim and Kanye think their daughter’s a star, and that they wanted her name to reflect that. Actually, Yeezy had been planning to name their child North for a long time. “It’s what Kanye wanted to name his child, no matter if it was a boy or girl,” the source said. “They didn’t want their child to have a name everybody else already has.”
The source also emphasized the significance of the name, and how it means that there is nothing better. “Kanye doesn’t think he’s a star, but he thinks his little girl is,” the source said. “Her name, North, points in that direction.”
So yeah it might sound silly at first, but North West is actually an adorable, sweet, significant name. Are you convinced, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
