Just days after Raizy and Nathan Glauber, an Orthodox Jewish couple from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, were struck and killed by an oncoming car while riding to the hospital in a cab, the driver who allegedly hit them wants to come forward — but is too scared to surrender just yet.
Julio Acevedo, 44, is suspected in hitting and killing the couple on March 3. Raizy Glauber was pregnant at the time of the accident, and the baby was delivered alive — only to die a day later at the hospital.
The suspected killer was arrested two weeks prior for drunk driving authorities said, according to the New York Post. Cops said it was Julio behind the wheel of the BMW that struck the couple, who were on the way to the hospital so the pregnant woman could meet with her doctor. He was identified by a witness, and was spotted fleeing the scene of the accident on foot.
The accused killer spoke to WABC-TV New York on March 5 by phone, and said he feels guilty — and wants to turn himself in.
“I am going to turn myself in,” Acevedo said. “My heart goes out to those. I left the scene and when I did leave the scene I didn’t know anyone died.
“My heart goes out to all of those people that’s feeling like I am so much of a bad guy,” Acevedo said. “And I am truly not. I did not know that occurred until I seen the news. I said I have to get my attorney ready,” he added.
Such a tragedy. We hope justice is served in the case. What do YOU think about Julio turning himself in HollyMoms? Do you think he will?
