Kate Middleton is in the midst of trying to decide which charities to support in her new role as Duchess of Cambridge. She has been supporting her husband Prince William‘s efforts at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey, South England, of which he is the President of the NHS Foundation Trust. Could this be Kate’s main passion just like it was for the late Princess Diana?
Kate looked chic in her Amanda Wakeley dress knee-length dress and tan heels when she arrived at the hospital. The hospital is the first ever in the world dedicated to cancer treatment and research, and the new center which William and Kate opened will treat 600 inpatients and over 5,000 day patients every year. The happy couple are getting a tour of the new center and meeting with patients and staff.
Princess Diana held the role as “first Patron” until her untimely death in 1997.
“It’s one of his oldest patronages, dating back to 2007,” a spokesman for the hospital said. “And [Prince William] is very keen to introduce the Duchess of Cambridge to the work that the trust does.”
Kate will also be presented with a bouquet of flowers by a 12-year-old girl named Alice Marples. She interviewed William two years ago for CBBC Newsround and today she’ll meet Kate!
