is a marvel on the screen, and  isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!  Let’s take a look back at the work that made her an Oscar winner!

Viola Davis

Over her career to date, Viola Davis has been nominated for 4 Academy Awards:

2 for Best Actress

2 for Best Supporting Actress

Her first nomination came in 2009 for her role alongside Meryl Streep in the movie Doubt. She lost the Best Supporting Actress award, however, to Penelope Cruz.

In 2012, she was nominated for her first Best Actress award for her role in The Help. Sadly, it still wasn’t her year; she lost to pal, Meryl.

In 2017, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role alongside Denzel Washington in the film, Fences.

Viola wore a custom scarlet red Armani gown, looking stunning in the off-the-shoulder floor-length design, and looked even better when she added a very special golden accessory.

Viola Davis won in 2017, beating out the likes of Michelle Williams, Octavia Spencer, and Nicole Kidman for the award.

I became an artist, and thank god I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life. — Viola’s Oscar Speech

In 2020, she was nominated again for Best Actress for her role in  Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, but the award went to Renee Zellweger.
