How To Carve A

This is Halloween, this is Halloween – and that means it’s time to carve pumpkins! Whether it’s your first time or you’re recapturing a childhood memory, here are some useful tips on how to carve a pumpkin.

Tip 1: Pick A Good Pumpkin

Think about the design you want to create when you pick a pumpkin. Do you want it nice and round? Maybe flat and oblong? Keep that in mind in the patch!

Tip 2: Top or Bottom?

Most people cut from the top, which is fine, but if you cut your opening at the bottom, you’ll have better access to adding a light!

Tip 3: Scoop!

There are lots of carving tools out there, but the best way to get out all the guts? An ice cream scoop! Less mess, more control, better time all around!

Tip 4: Don’t Throw Out The Seeds

You can roast them later for a snack. Waste not, want not!

Tip 5: Sketch Out Your Design

Dive right in if you feel confident but having a roadmap wouldn’t hurt.

Tip 6: Use a Boning Knife

You won’t find a better tool for bigger and finer cuts! You’ll get into all those little details.

Tip 7: Light It Up

You can use a real or battery operated candle, but a jack o’lantern hasn’t fulfilled it’s destiny until it's lit!

Tip 8: Dash Of Cinnamon

Finish off your work with some sweet smelling spice. Sprinkle cinnamon inside the lid and enjoy the season!
