Charlie Brown

THANKSGIVING

Fun Facts

It’s not Thanksgiving without parades, turkey, and good grief, Charlie Brown!

Here are some fun facts about the iconic special.

It was the 3rd of the original  Charlie Brown Holiday specials,

following A Charlie Brown Christmas in 1965 and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown in 1966.

Original airings of the special were on CBS,

starting in 1973 and ending in 1989.

In the 90s, all the Peanuts specials moved to Disney Channel and Nickelodeon,

making it one of the few programs to ever play on both, competing kids’ networks.

For nearly 20 years after, the special aired on ABC,

and had special airings for several days leading up, and then again on Thanksgiving Day.

The special, along with the whole Peanuts library,

can now be seen exclusively AppleTV+

When Peppermint Patty tells the gang that they're going to Charlie Brown's grandmother's house,

this is one of the very few times she actually calls him "Charlie Brown" instead of "Chuck".

Lucy appears only at the beginning of the film when she is playing football with Charlie Brown

— then disappears!

Vince Guaraldi composed the music,

just as he did for the classic Christmas special!
