Bio:
Sloane Stephens (born in Plantation, FL on March 20, 1993) is a professional tennis player. She began playing at the age of nine. She broke through in 2008, when she finished the US Open Junior doubles as a runner-up, alongside partner Mallory Burdette. She is currently the youngest woman in the Women’s Tennis Association. At the 2012 Australian Open, she defeated one of her inspirations, Serena Williams, in the quarterfinals. She subsequently lost in the semi-finals, though reaching that point in the tournament had her achieve a career-high ranking of World No. 17, making her the youngest player, and only teenager, in the Top 20.

Being a professional tennis player and the youngest woman in the Women’s Tennis Association.
Personal Life:
Sloane’s parents are Sybil Smith, who was the first African-American female to be named First Team All-American in Division I history, and Jon Stephens, who was a professional football player. Her father was killed in a car accident on September 1, 2009, just before the start of the US Open. She attended her father’s funeral in Louisiana, but remained in the tournament.
