The Life As We Know It star revealed that she’s planning on adopting baby number two, but isn’t interested in having one of her own right now.
Calling herself “a big baby,” Katherine Heigl made it pretty clear that, while she definitely wants to have more kids as soon as possible, she doesn’t want to be pregnant to have them. Katherine, 31, and her husband Josh Kelley, 30, adopted their daughter Naleigh, 22 months, from South Korea last year, and now Katherine wants to make Naleigh a big sister as soon as her adoption is legal. “I can’t wait to have another baby,” she says, but add that it’s “terrible idea for me to get pregnant.”
The Life As We Know It star admits that when she first met her adopted daughter, they were both “kind of scared,” and her first thought was, “Oh, my God, I hope I do this right.”
When Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley adopted their daughter Naleigh in September 2009, their lives changed forever. “When she was finally in my arms, I was so relieved… now I got to hold her and smell her and know her,” Katherine says in the new issue of Redbook. “Adoption has been a part of my life and a part of my family, so it was how I wanted to start. It felt natural and right to me.” Katherine’s older sister Meg was adopted from Korea, just like her niece Naleigh, who is named after her!
Baby Naleigh is definitely a daddy’s girl, but her mommy Katherine Heigl thinks it’s A-OKAY!
It’s no use — Katherine Heigl has accepted the fact that her 24-month-old daughter Naleigh Kelley has a favorite parent — her singer daddy, Josh Kelley! “I’ve given it up,” Katherine told HollyBaby.com at the NYC premiere of her new movie Life As We Know It on Sept. 29. “I’m letting go. I mean she is so her father’s daughter and she adores him!”
The star of Life As We Know It shares her tips with HollyBaby.com for getting her daughter to stop crying, reveals her worst poopy diaper moment and confesses that the babies on the set of her new movie liked Josh Duhamel more than her!
Katherine Heigl loves being a mom to 20-month-old daughter Nahleigh, but like all first-time moms, it’s been a learn-as-you-go experience for the former Grey’s Anatomy star and her husband, Josh Kelley, 30. “New motherhood was all glorious and certainly overwhelming,” Katherine tells HollyBaby.com. “I was scared, but I have a great partner who really helped me.” But the 31-year-old says she’s now a diaper-changing pro and knows just what to do to calm Nahleigh down when she’s crying.
Her little girl got the hang of saying “dada” straight away, but when it took forever for her to say that other special word, the actress worried a little!
Remember the first time your child looked at you and said “Mama”? Katherine Heigl was waiting and waiting for her adorable daughter, Naleigh, to say it to her. The 22-month-old was quick to learn “dada” (she’s a total daddy’s girl, gravitating toward Katherine’s husband, Josh Kelley, 30), but when it came to addressing Katherine, Naleigh got a little confused!
