Elizabeth Gilbert (born Elizabeth Marie Gilbert in Waterbury, Connecticut on July 18, 1969) is an American author, who penned the 2006 best-seller Eat, Pray, Love. Elizabeth first began her career in journalism, having her work published in major publications such as Esquire, The New York Times Magazine, and GQ. Her article for GQ entitled, “Coyote Ugly Saloon,” was the basis for the 2000 feature film Coyote Ugly, starring Tyra Banks. In addition to her thriving journalism career, Elizabeth also gave literature a try. Her first book, Pilgrims received the Pushcart Prize. And her following novel scored her a spot on The New York Times “Notable Books” list. In 2006, Elizabeth published Eat, Pray, Love. In addition to earning various accolades,t he book inspired the feature film starring Julia Roberts in 2010. Eat, Pray, Love also spent 199 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List.
