Alyson Hannigan, 49, has an impressive acting career, but the role that she’s most proud of is being a mom. The How I Met Your Mother alum and her husband, Alexis Denisof, have two daughters, Satyana Marie, 14, and Keeva Jane, 11, who have been proudly supporting their mom who has made it to the finals of Dancing with the Stars season 32 with partner Sasha Farber.
While Alyson was training for her Foxtrot during the show’s Motown Week, her husband and daughters surprised her in rehearsals to cheer her on. In an interview with People, Alyson said she’s doing the dance competition series to inspire her children. “You shouldn’t let the fear of, ‘What if I’m not good enough?’ hold you back,” she said. “I’m doing something that terrifies me. It doesn’t come naturally, but I’m going to work hard to improve every week.”

Satyana Marie Denisof
Alyson gave birth to her first baby, Satyana, on her 35th birthday on March 24, 2009. “They’re very excited, and mom and baby are doing great,” Alyson and Alexis’ rep told PEOPLE at the time. The couple, who met on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, did not have a name picked out for Satyana when she was born.
“I loved Satyana but we didn’t name her for four days because we were debating over how to spell it,” Alyson told Yahoo News in 2015. “I finally said [to Alexis], ‘We have to name her because I am tired of calling her baby girl.”
In 2018, when Satyana was 9 years old, Alyson and her oldest daughter appeared on MasterChef Junior: Celebrity Showdown. The duo teamed up to make food for the judges. “We are just gonna try not to burn the kitchen down,” Alyson said in a preview of the episode. As Alyson and Satyana went to work in the kitchen, Alyson joked that she was most concerned about “cooking,” Luckily, the meal they made impressed the judges.
Alyson has posted more pictures of Satyana on her social media in recent years, showing fans how her child is growing up so fast. In March 2022, Alyson shared a photo of Satyana’s birthday cake to celebrate her child turning 13. The cake had pictures on it of Satyana over the years. “How has time gone by so quickly?!?” Alyson — who also celebrated her birthday that day — captioned the snapshot.
Keeva Jane Denisof
Alyson and Alexis welcomed their second daughter, Keeva, on May 23, 2012. Unlike her big sister, Keeva’s name was picked out before she was born. “We loved Keeva, a Gaelic name which resonated right away,” Alyson said to Yahoo News.
Alyson had home births for both of her children, which she opened up about in the Yahoo News interview. “It’s definitely not the right choice for everyone,” she said. “I don’t like hospitals and the idea of being in labor somewhere I don’t like at all wasn’t how I wanted to bring my kids into the world. I thought, ‘Where am I most comfortable?’ For me, the choice [to give birth at home] was phenomenal.”
In 2020, Alyson revealed that Keeva wants to follow in her parents’ footsteps and be on television. “She has asked me if I could just get her an audition for America’s Got Talent,” Alyson told People. “I was like, ‘What talent are you going to do?’ And she’s like, ‘I don’t know I’ll figure it out when I get there!’ “
