Bio:
Alex Smith (born Alexander Douglas Smith on May 7, 1984 in Bermerton, Washington) is an American professional football player. Ales grew up in La Mesa, California. A unruly and bratty child, Alex discovered that his stubborn nature was perfect for football. He led his school team at Helix Charter High School to a 25-1 record, including tow San Diego CIF section championships. While in high school, he played with Reggie Bush, and both he and Reggie would be Heisman Trophy finalists in 2004. While Ivy League schools wanted Alex, he didn’t want to miss the chance to play in a College Bowl game. He attended the University of Utah, where he played in the 2003 Liberty Bowl and 2005 Fiesta Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers drafted Alex as the first overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft. He would play with them for seven years. Alex struggled with injuries and inconsistency throughout his time with the Niners. He had his best game in 2011, but suffered a concussion in 2012. He was replaced by Colin Kaepernick, and in 2013, the 49ers traded Alex to the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2013, Alex led the Chiefs to a 9-0 start and their first playoff appearance in 3 years. In 2015, Alex became the first Chiefs quarterback to lead the team to a playoff victory since Joe Montana did it in 1994.
