Mary Ellen Trainor (born July 8, 1952, in San Francisco, California) was an American actress. She enrolled in San Diego State University after high school. While in college, she made a life-long friend with future Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Mary studied broadcast journalism and started her career as an on-air personality for radio station KSDO. She took on the role of station editor at KCBS-TV, before relocating to Los Angeles to work as a production assistant. Her life in show business really began when she worked as a producer’s assistant on Steven Spielberg’s 1941. The movie was written by Robert Zemeckis. He and Mary married in 1980. Robert would cast her in four of his movies: Romancing The Stone (1984), Back To The Future II (1989) Death Becomes Her (1992) and Forrest Gump (1994). However, Mary’s biggest role was that of Dr. Stephanie Woods in the Lethal Weapon movie franchise. Mary also had notable roles in movies like Die Hard, The Monster Squad, The Goonies, Ghostbusters II, and Congo. Mary also worked in television, appearing in series Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, Relativity and Roswell. Mary passed away in her home on May 20, 2015 of complications from pancreatic cancer.
