Whitney Houston was an icon, a legendary singer who will never be matched. And now a decade after her tragic death on Feb. 11, 2012, we are remembering her legacy.

Whitney rose to fame in the 1980s, when she was signed by legendary record producer Clive Davis. She was just 19 years old when her first album, ‘Whitney Houston’ debuted. Throughout her too-short life, Whitney became the most awarded female artist of all time, according to the Guinness World Records, and years past her death, still remains one of the best-selling music artists of all time with 200 million records sold worldwide. All seven of her studio albums and two soundtrack albums went diamond, multi-platinum, platinum, or gold.

Whitney died in Feb. 2012 after she drowned in a hotel bathtub due to coronary artery disease and cocaine intoxication. Her only child, daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown died under similar circumstances at the age of 22 in July 2015. Whitney is still considered one of the most talented female performers in the music industry a decade after her passing.
