‘Twin Peaks’ Then & Now: Photos of Kyle Maclachlan & More From the Cult TV Show

‘Twin Peaks’ fans celebrate the show each Feb. 24. See where Kyle MacLachlan, Mädchen Amick, and more are now in our gallery.

Pour a cup of your strongest coffee, it’s time to take the case. Twin Peaks welcomed FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper into town on Feb. 24, and TV was never the same. The cult TV show, which debuted in 1990, followed the quirky lawman (Kyle MacLachlan) and the local Sheriff Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean) as they investigated the mysterious murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Taking place in the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington, the David Lynch/Mark Frost series was part detective fiction, part supernatural, and all-around entertaining with its campy, melodramatic portrayal of eccentric characters – think soap opera meets horror movie vibes.

Far from your typical show, Twin Peaks offered up surrealism, offbeat humor, and some seriously distinctive cinematography. And don’t even get me started on the score, which was composed by the amazing Angelo Badalamenti, with director David adding his own creative touch.
