Three epic couples were ripped apart on the Oct. 4 episode of Glee, and while the entire HollywoodLife.com spent the next day mourning those losses, we also wanted to take time to reflect: They were hardly the only great TV couples we’ve lost over the past few years. So join us now in honoring 10 of our fallen favorites, including Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair (Leighton Meester) on Gossip Girl, and Matt (Zach Roerig) and Caroline (Candice Accola) on The Vampire Diaries.
We even went so far as to include couples that eventually reunited after their breakup — like Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) on The Vampire Diaries, and Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) on Pretty Little Liars — because the pain was once very real.
And, of course, we couldn’t leave out the most recent Bachelor couple to call it quits: Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson! Yes, we know that 10 out of 8 couples from the reality franchise are doomed to fail, but math doesn’t make things less sad.
