Drink it in. The Boston-born, Los Angeles-based Haitian American artist TeaMarrr is poised to take over the world. Arriving on the music scene in 2017, TeaMarrr caught the ears of million with her 2018 breakout hit, “One Job.” One of those ears belonged to Issa Rae, who in 2019, launched Raedio, a label/music platform in conjunction with Atlantic Records. TeaMarrr was Raedio’s first signee, and she celebrated the partnership with her song and video (with Issa cameo) “Kinda Love.”
With a strong visual aesthetic and layers of intention behind every thing she does, TeaMarrr brings a spiritual element to her music – which is packed full of sharp, raw, honest, emotional verses. “Everything’s with purpose, everything has intention. It’s not just willy-nilly. And when it is willy-nilly, I make sense of it,” she told HollywoodLife. “I’m always trying to do something that’s never been done. And, if it’s been done, I want to do it differently. But I also think that if it’s been done, if I do it, it’s still never been done. So it’s like you can do it, but I want to stand out.”
