Richard Simmons — Richard Simmons, born Milton Teagle ‘Richard’ Simmons on July 12, 1948, is an American fitness instructor and personality. Richard rose to fame in the 1970s after creating his own fitness routines and opening his own studio, The Anatomy Asylum, in Los Angeles. With his flamboyant personality and effervescent style, Richard became a major personality and began releasing videos of his exercise routines set to upbeat music with self-love and motivational messages. Richard stayed in the public eye until roughly early 2014. But his YouTube channel has remained popular with hundreds of thousands of subscribers from various generations. Here, Richard Simmons leads a group of Capitol Hill staffers and tourists in an exercise routine in 2013. American fitness guru Richard Simmons brought his own brand of fitness to Washington after testifying before the House Education Committee on childhood obesity.
