Patti LaBelle (born Patricia Louise Holte-Edwards on May 24, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a multiple Grammy-winning R&B/soul singer, author and actress. She was the lead singer of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles, whom with Labelle released the famous song “Lady Marmalade”. She later embarked on a solo career and found success with singles such as “On My Own”, a duet with Michael McDonald. Labelle is a member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. LaBelle has sold over 50 million albums and is on Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Singers List.
As an author, LaBelle has released an autobiography and a few New York Times bestselling cookbooks. As an actress, LaBelle has had roles on the television shows American Horror Story, Out All Night and A Different World. She competed on season 20 of Dancing With The Stars with partner Artem Chigvintsev.
