Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee might not have been forever, but they were one of the 90s most outrageous couples when they were. The Motley Crue drummer began dating the bombshell in Feb. 1995 and became her first of now-six husbands just four days later.

Not long after, the couple welcomed son Brandon Thomas, born June 5, 1996. Their youngest Dylan Jagger arrived as a late Christmas gift the next year, born December 29, 1997. During their days, there were masters of PDA, always locking lips on the red carpet, but behind the scenes, Tommy was violent. Pam filed for divorce for the first time in Nov. 1996, but the filing was later withdrawn.

In Feb. 1998, he was arrested for domestic abuse and went on to serve six months in jail. Pam filed for divorced days later, and after that, they bitterly fought each other for the boys’ custody. The duo eventually settled on a 50/50 arrangement in Oct. 2002.

While things were bitter between the exes at first, they later reconnected as friends with benefits. During the mid-2000s they were often seen out together, and Pam even admitted to regularly hooking up with her ex in a 2007 interview.

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee were head-over-heels for one-another the moment they met on New Year’s Eve 1995. Tommy remembered the night in his band Motley Crue’s memoir The Dirt.

After she sent him a shot of Goldschläger from across an LA bar, he was instantly drawn to the model. “She was wearing all white, her hair was the most perfect shade of blond I had ever seen,” he wrote. “Her teeth practically glowed through her lips when she laughed, and she stood out so radiantly from everyone around her that it seemed like a beam of black light was shining on her from above.”

They talked on the phone for a while after that, but they wouldn’t have their first date until a Cancun vacation around Valentine’s Day. They were married in Mexico on Feb. 18, 1995.

Newlywed Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee just couldn’t seem to get enough of each other at first. After their wedding, they starting shacking up at his Malibu beach house.

The newlyweds finally got to enjoy a honeymoon during the summer of 1995. During their five-day houseboat trip to Nevada’s Lake Mead they ended up filming what would later be turned into an unauthorized sex tape. “We weren’t trying to make a porno, just to document our vacation,” Tommy would tell Esquire in 2022.

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s relationship took a dark turn, amid the rocker’s ongoing struggle with addiction. He was arrested on Feb. 24, 1998, after kicking Pam while she was holding their infant son. The rocker later plead no contest to domestic assault charges and served six months behind bars.

Though she filed for divorce days after the incident, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee were together again during the 1999 World Music Awards in Monaco in May of that year. She dazzled in baby blue while he went with leather overalls, sans shirt. On stage, the no-longer-exes shared a kiss.

Despite Tommy’s legal woes, the pair would have trouble staying apart. In Sep. 1999, Pam and Tommy attended the MTV Video Music Awards together. In what is probably one of their most memorable appearances, he rocked a trench coat and she donned a feathered Ivy Supersonic hat, lace corset, and embellished pants.

Pam swore that Tommy was learning to manage his anger in a Dec. 1998 interview with Jane magazine. “It’s not all roses or anything, because there’s a lot of pain that Tommy and I need to resolve,” she wrote. “But seeing my two little boys so happy and playing with their daddy, it’s just beautiful to have our family back together.”

Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson were hand-in-hand during the launch party for LA’s Rokbar in Jun. 2005. Months before in Jan., the pair were spotted kissing. Then in May, they packed on the PDA during son Dylan’s baseball game.

Tommy explained the reunion to People at the time, telling the magazine, “The boys miss Pam and me together. When we’re together, they’re so happy. At the end of the day, that’s truly what my heart wants. I want us all to be together.”

By July, Pam was telling a different story. Thoroughly dismissing rumors she was engaged to he ex, she took to her personal website to clarify things. “I am not engaged to Tommy Lee,” she wrote. “We are friendly, we’re family … but that is not the truth. I am not getting married … Period.”

It seems like the chemistry never totally faded between Pamela Anderson and ex-husband Tommy Lee. The former couple got very close during the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards at the Palms Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas on Sep. 9.

The couple gave it another shot in 2008, as Tommy told Rolling Stone in June of that year. “We’ve only given it a try 800 times — 801, here we go,” he said. “Pamela and the kids have moved in with me. It’s awesome. It’s definitely working.” Things were over for the couple by the spring of 2009, but the couple was spotting sharing one last kiss in Las Vegas before the end.

Still, the pair’s connection would last. Pam admitted how much she cared about Tommy in an August 2015 interview with People. “There was Tommy and then there was nobody else,” she said. “He was the love of my life.”

The star went on, “There’s a connection there that will always be. We’re good friends, we’re getting better at co-parenting our kids. He’s such a supporter of mine and I’m really happy we’re on such great terms.” She echoed that message in her 2023 memoir, Love, Pamela, calling their marriage the only time she was “ever truly in love.”
