‘NEVER AGAIN IS NOW’ Movie Poster — ‘NEVER AGAIN IS NOW’ focuses on Evelyn Markus and her journey to spread awareness about and investigate anti-semitism in the US and Europe. Evelyn Markus, who emigrated from the Netherlands, moved to the United States in the early 2000s after an alarming rise in anti-semitism in her home country. Unfortunately, the peace she found in the US was short-lived. Donald Trump’s entry into the 2016 presidential campaign and his anti-immigrant rhetoric stoked both white nationalism and anti-semitism. Anti-semitic incidences rose sharply in 2016, and skyrocketed in 2017. Then, in 2018, the Pittsburgh synagogue, the tree of life experienced a deadly attack from a right wing extremist, who murdered 11 worshippers.

Evelyn Markus reminds viewers in ‘NEVER AGAIN IS NOW’ that if we do not continue to remember and embrace the lessons of the Holocaust, history could repeat itself. Evelyn Markus co-created and co-directed ‘NEVER AGAIN IS NOW’ to remind viewers that scapegoating and the normalization of prejudice is simply unacceptable and cannot continue. Evelyn Markus is the co-creator and co-director of the film NEVER AGAIN IS NOW. As a psychologist, she did not set out to direct films, but given her experience with prejudice and anti-semitism in both the Netherlands and US, she felt her story and message needed to be shared. History can repeat itself if the lessons learned from the Holocaust are not brought to the forefront early on, hence, NEVER AGAIN IS NOW.
