Mayim Bialik is an actress, author, activist, and scientist who began her career as a child star in the 1980s, with her role in Beaches alongside Bette Midler. She got her big break in 1990, when she played the title role in the sitcom Blossom. The show ran until 1995, and afterward she had a series of small TV roles and voice acting spots. Her main focus, though, was getting her PhD in neuroscience. Her intelligence came in handy when she played neurobiologist Amy Fowler on the beloved sitcom The Big Bang Theory. During the show, which she was on from 2010 to its series finale in 2019, Mayim scored a number of nominations and awards. She was nominated four times for the Emmys, and won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2015 and 2016.
