Over the years, Matthew Perry had his ups and downs throughout his life, but he became a household name as Chandler Bing on Friends. The sarcastic character became a fan-favorite, and people loved his romance with Monica (Courteney Cox.) During and after Friends, Matthew continued to captivate audiences with a series of comedic roles in The Whole Nine Yards and the short-lived reboot of The Odd Couple with Thomas Lennon.
His struggles with substance abuse and addiction were no secret, though. Matthew had been open about his recoveries, and relapses, and shared his experiences in a memoir. Unfortunately, he died on October 28, 2023, from drowning, while multiple outlets reported that his cause of death was from the “acute effects of ketamine.”
